Being a mom is a workout in itself, but if you do have the extra energy, going to the gym or to a group fitness class can be a great way to do something positive for yourself.

The South End has lots of options for busy moms, who want to squeeze in a workout. There are classes that allow you to workout alongside your baby, wearing your baby, or on your own while someone else looks after your little one. Here is an overview of where, when and how you can work up a sweat locally.

Alongside Your Baby



Mondays 10.30-11.15am Strength, Cardio & Restorative exercises BURN Fitness  Studio, Back Bay     “Mix of strength, cardio and restorative exercises for new moms…It’s going to be challenging and help you reach your postnatal goals from losing the baby weight to strengthening your core, to meeting other local moms! …Babies will be incorporated as needed. Bring them in a car seat, stroller or bassinet. For now, non mobile babies only are welcome.”
Tuesdays 10.15-11.00am   Pilates, Yoga & Barre Endurance Pilates   “Work your legs, your abs and your tush with baby by your side!” All levels and moms, dads, nannies and caregivers welcome.
Wednesdays 10.30-11.15am Barre Healthworks Back Bay “60 minutes of a barre class while your baby hangs out with you. For safety reasons, only non-crawling infants may be admitted into class. This class is also appropriate for prenatal women, as well as postnatal without baby!”
Thursdays 10.30-11.30am Yoga Sadhana Yoga          “This class for new parents and their little ones (6 weeks to non-walkers) gently rebuilds core strength and relieves, stretches, and strengthens tired arms, backs, and shoulders. All of this in a relaxed, inclusive, and supportive environment.”

On Your Own (Babysitting)

Tuesdays & Thursdays  8.30-9.15am Spinning   Recycle Studio  Enjoy a spin class and Summer Sitters will be there to take care of your little one. The cost is $10 (in addition to the cost of the class) and sitters are there 30 minutes before and after the class so that you also have time to grab a shower and a coffee.

Sensible Sitters look after your little ones in the courtyard area of Prudential Center across from studio. Babies should be in a stroller but sitters pick up the kids if they are upset or walk around the mall.
